إني أنا الحر وابن الحُرِّ

ذو حَسَب مذحج وفخرِ

ذو حَسَب مذحج وفخرِ

Indeed, I am a free man, and the son of a free man,

Possessed of Madhhij’s noble lineage and pride.

وَقادِح لَكم غَداة الذُّعر

وَقادِح لَكم غَداة الذُّعر

بِالضَّربِ أَحياناً وَطَعن شَزرِ

بِالضَّربِ أَحياناً وَطَعن شَزرِ

And I strike sparks for you on the morning of terror,

With blows at times, and sidelong thrusts.
