Indeed, al-Mukhtar has claimed that I and my companions

are at Maskin, with my paths of escape closed to me.

But how, with an Aʿwajī steed beneath me, and my companions

each astride a mighty steed, ample-bellied and well-watered?

Whenever we feared a town, they sped us onward—

    long-backed steeds with lofty brows.
