لَو أَنَّ لِي مِن شِيعَتي رِجالا

لَو أَنَّ لِي مِن شِيعَتي رِجالا

مساعِراً أَعرِفُهم أَبطالا

مساعِراً أَعرِفُهم أَبطالا

If only I had men among my followers,

If I had among my followers brave men,

kindlers of war whom I knew as heroes,

Known to me as heroes,

لأَحسَنوا مِن دونِيَ القِتالا

لأَحسَنوا مِن دونِيَ القِتالا

وَلَم يَهابوا في الوَغى الآجالا

وَلَم يَهابوا في الوَغى الآجالا

they would have fought well in my defense,

They would have fought better than me

and would not have feared death in the fray.

And would not have feared in battle impending death.
