فَإِنfor if بِنتَyou part عَنّيfrom me أَوor تُرِدyou wish ليfor me إِهانَةًhumiliation
فَإِن بِنتَ عَنّي أَو تُرِد لي إِهانَةً
أجِدI will find عَنكَaway from you فيin الأَرضِthe earth العَريضَةِwide مَذهَباa place to go
أجِد عَنكَ في الأَرضِ العَريضَةِ مَذهَبا
For if you part from me or wish humiliation upon me,
Should you turn away from me or seek to dishonor me
I will find a place to go, away from you, in the wide earth.
I will find escape from you in the wide world
فَلاso do not تَحسَبَنَّever think الأَرضَthe earth باباًa door سَددتَهُyou have barred it
فَلا تَحسَبَنَّ الأَرضَ باباً سَددتَهُ
عَلَيَّagainst me وَلاnor المِصرَينِthe two cities أُمّاًa mother وَلاnor أَباa father
عَلَيَّ وَلا المِصرَينِ أُمّاً وَلا أَبا
So do not think the earth a door you have barred
So think not the earth a door you have closed on me
against me, nor the two cities a mother or a father.
Nor mother Egypt nor father Nile a bar
