وَيَوماًand one day بِتامَرّاat Tamarra وَلَوand if كُنتَyou were شاهِداًpresent
وَيَوماً بِتامَرّا وَلَو كُنتَ شاهِداً
رَأَيتَyou would have seen بِتامَرّاat Tamarra دِماءَهُمtheir blood تَجريflowing
رَأَيتَ بِتامَرّا دِماءَهُم تَجري
And one day at Tamarra—had you been present,
you would have seen their blood flowing at Tamarra.
وَأَحفيتُand I sorely assailed بَشراًBishr يَومَon the day ذَلِكَof that طَعنَةًwith a spear-thrust
وَأَحفيتُ بَشراً يَومَ ذَلِكَ طَعنَةً
دُوَينَjust below التَراقيthe collarbones فَاِستَهَلُّواthen they cried aloud عَلىover بِشرِBishr
دُوَينَ التَراقي فَاِستَهَلُّوا عَلى بِشرِ
And that day I sorely assailed Bishr with a spear-thrust
just below the collarbones; then they cried aloud over Bishr.
