تُبَكِّيyou mourn عَلىover الدُّنياthe world سَفاهاًfoolishly وَقَدand indeed تَرىyou see
بِعَينَيكَwith your two eyes أَنthat لَمnot يَبقَremains إِلاexcept ذَميمُهاits blameworthy part
You foolishly weep over this world, though you see
with your own eyes that nothing remains but what is vile in it.
إِلاbut إِنَّماonly الدُّنياthe world كَنهيlike a pool قَرارَةٍa hollow

But this world is only like a pool in a hollow:
it rose a little, then its scorching wind blew.
