رَأدَ الضُّحى اليَومَ هَل تَرتادُ أَظعانا
Look, then gaze intently—may God reward you with good—
Look around! May God reward you with goodness
Today, at rising forenoon: do you spy any camel litters?
The morning has appeared. Will you go to the meadows?

They ascend a sandy stretch of ʿĀlij, and across it presses
They ascend from a high sand dune and drive it away
A brother of the sands, who has long dwelt among them.
A brother of sands - there has been with it what was

When clustered dunes rise up, they skirt its roughest part,
If love knots up its bonds, it turns away its pangs
And traverse its great sand-mounds and hollows.
And gathers from it crowds and multitudes
