I shall weep for Ḥuṣayn as long as doves sing,

And weep for Ḥuṣayn while the doves sleep.

They have indeed demolished a capacious cooking pot and a serving bowl,

Once heaped high with a valleyful of dry she-camels’ hump fat.

He lived praised, and now his loss

Is most grievous to his closest kin and foes.
