ماwhat ليfor me وَحَديثِand talk of وَصلِunion with مَنher whom أَهواهاI love her
ما لي وَحَديثِ وَصلِ مَن أَهواها
حَسبيenough for me لشفاءfor curing عِلَّتيmy ailment ذِكراهاremembering her
حَسبي لشفاء عِلَّتي ذِكراها
What have I to do with talk of union with her whom I love?
Remembering her suffices to cure my ailment.
هَذاthis وَإِذاand if قَضيتُI completed نَحبيmy allotted lifespan أَسَفاًout of grief
هَذا وَإِذا قَضيتُ نَحبي أَسَفاً
يَكفينيَit suffices for me أَنthat أُعَدَّI be counted مِنamong قَتلاهاthose she has slain
يَكفينيَ أَن أُعَدَّ مِن قَتلاها
So it is; and if I die of grief,
It suffices for me to be counted among those she has slain.
