بَلِّغهُtell him وقيتَmay you be spared طارِقَthe night visitor of الأَحداثِcalamities
بَلِّغهُ وقيتَ طارِقَ الأَحداثِ
أَنthat مُتُّI died صَبابَةًof passionate longing وَماand there is not مِنany راثِmourner
أَن مُتُّ صَبابَةً وَما مِن راثِ
Tell him—may you be spared the onslaught of calamities—
Tell him—may you be spared the night visitor of calamities—
that I died of longing, with no one to mourn me.
That I died of passionate longing, with no one to mourn me.
إِنif ضَمَّنيَenfolds me التُربُthe dust وَلَمand does not يَشفِheal جَوىًburning anguish
إِن ضَمَّنيَ التُربُ وَلَم يَشفِ جَوىً
فالوَيلُthen woe إِذَنthen لِساكِنِto the dweller in الأَجداثِthe graves
فالوَيلُ إِذَن لِساكِنِ الأَجداثِ
If the earth enfolds me and does not heal my heartache,
If the dust enfolds me yet does not heal my burning anguish,
then woe indeed to the dweller among the graves.
Then woe to the dweller in the graves!
