She rose and appeared at break of dawn,
She rose and showed herself at daybreak,
waging war on me by departing after reconciliation.
At war with me, departing after reconciliation.
هَلis? نَصلُكَyour blade ياO صُبحُdawn خَضيبٌstained بِدَميwith my blood
هَل نَصلُكَ يا صُبحُ خَضيبٌ بِدَمي
إِذfor قَلبيmy heart منfrom ظُباكَyour blade-edges داميbleeding الجرحِthe wound
إِذ قَلبي من ظُباكَ دامي الجرحِ
Has your blade, O dawn, been dyed with my blood?
Is your blade, O dawn, stained with my blood?
For my heart’s wound bleeds from your blades.
For my heart bears a bleeding wound from your blade-edges.
