فيin النارthe fire وَفيand in الدخانthe smoke لَيلَon the night of السَذَقِSadhaq
في النار وَفي الدخان لَيلَ السَذَقِ
ماsomething that يُخبِرُtells عَنof تنفّسيmy sighing منof حُرَقِburning anguish
ما يُخبِرُ عَن تنفّسي من حُرَقِ
In the fire and smoke on the night of Sadhaq
is something that speaks of the burning anguish of my sighs.
أَشرَفتَyou appeared عَلىupon السَطحِthe rooftop فَلَمand did not يَبقَremain دجىdarkness
أَشرَفتَ عَلى السَطحِ فَلَم يَبقَ دجى
منbecause of نوركَyour light فيin جُنحِthe wing of ظَلامِthe darkness of الغَسَقِdusk
من نوركَ في جُنحِ ظَلامِ الغَسَقِ
You appeared upon the rooftop, and no darkness remained,
because of your light, beneath the wing of dusk’s gloom.
