فيin العَينِthe eye جَمالُthe beauty of وجنتيهاher two cheeks باقِremaining
في العَينِ جَمالُ وجنتيها باقِ
لاnot يَغسلهwash it away الدَمعُtears منfrom الآماقِthe corners of the eyes
لا يَغسله الدَمعُ من الآماقِ
In the eye, the beauty of her two cheeks remains.
Tears from the corners of the eyes do not wash it away.
لَمdid not تنصبغِbecome tinged الدُموعُthe tears حُمراًred إِلّاexcept
لَم تنصبغِ الدُموعُ حُمراً إِلّا
مِنfrom حمرةِthe redness of خَدِّهنَّtheir cheek فيin الأَحداقِthe pupils
مِن حمرةِ خَدِّهنَّ في الأَحداقِ
The tears were tinged red only
From the redness of their cheek within the pupils.
