بيضاً تَركت أَوجُهَ نسكي سودا
I turned my reins toward the full-breasted, supple maidens—
I entrusted my reins to delicate, full-breasted maidens.
fair ones; I left the faces of my piety blackened.
Fair-skinned, they left the faces of my devotion black.

They propped the oud against their upper chests,
They rested the oud against their bosoms.
and with it they ruin my heart, stricken by love.
With it they corrupt my anguished heart.
