أَوصَيتُكI have counseled you بِالجَدِّto earnestness فَدَعso leave مَنwhoever ساخَرmocks
أَوصَيتُك بِالجَدِّ فَدَع مَن ساخَر
فاخِرvie in boasting بِفضيلَةin the virtue of التُّقىpiety مَنwhoever فاخَرboasts
فاخِر بِفضيلَة التُّقى مَن فاخَر
I have counseled you to be earnest, so leave whoever mocks.
Vie with whoever boasts, taking pride in the virtue of piety.
لاdo not تَرجُhope سِوىin anyone but الرَبّthe Lord لِكَشفِfor the removal of البَلوىaffliction
لا تَرجُ سِوى الرَبّ لِكَشفِ البَلوى
لاdo not تَدعُinvoke مَعalongside اللَهAllah إِلَهاًa god آخَرother
لا تَدعُ مَع اللَه إِلَهاً آخَر
Look to none but the Lord for relief from affliction.
Do not invoke another god alongside Allah.
