في وَصف فَم الخود لِساني طالا
إِذas أَصبَحَbecame فيin مَضيقِهِits narrow passage دَخّالاa frequent entrant
إِذ أَصبَحَ في مَضيقِهِ دَخّالا
Describing the maiden’s mouth, my tongue grew long,

فيin فَتحِconquering مَمالكkingdoms الثُغورthe mouths; the frontier strongholds اِحتالاused guile
في فَتحِ مَمالك الثُغور اِحتالا
O fortune of him who scales the incisors, contrive
O good fortune of a nimble climber of passes,
a stratagem to conquer the kingdoms of mouths.
