1. بزغت شموس الانس في فلك الصفا

    تجلى وتزهو في البها وتنيرُ

    The suns of delight rose in the sphere of serenity,

    shining forth, glowing in splendor, and shedding light.

  2. وطوالع الاقبال قد لاحت كوا

    كبها وضاءت في الخدور بدورُ

    And the rising signs of good fortune have shown

    their stars, and moons have shone within the bridal chambers.

  3. وزها اقتران الفرقدين وقد بدا

    بشرٌ وعمَّ العالمين سرورُ

    And the conjunction of the two Farqad stars shone, and there appeared

    gladness, while joy spread through all the worlds.

  4. وشهاب دنيانا المعظم ملحمٌ

    مصباح هذا العصر نعم اميرُ

    And our world's shooting star, the exalted Melhem,

    is the lamp of this age—what an excellent emir!

  5. هناه رب العرش في عرسٍ به

    كادت لفرحتها القوب تطيرُ

    The Lord of the Throne granted him joy at a wedding where

    hearts almost took flight from their joy.

  6. وغدت ربوع العز ترقص بهجة

    والنادي النادي كساه النورُ

    And the abodes of glory began to dance with delight,

    and the assembly hall—the assembly hall—was clothed in light.

  7. وبه شدا سعد السعود مؤرخاً

    نعم ازدواجٌ بالسرور مشيرُ

    And of it Sa'd al-Su'ud sang, composing a chronogram:

    What a fine union, heralding joy!
