وعدتني خير صنع أنت عارفهُ

وعدتني خير صنع أنت عارفهُ

فوفِّ وعدك يا سؤلي ويا أملي

فوفِّ وعدك يا سؤلي ويا أملي

You promised me a good turn, one known to you;

You promised me the best of deeds, you know it

So fulfill your promise, O my desire and my hope.

So fulfill your promise, my request and my hope

وارحم عبيداً لجوجاً قال معتذراً

وارحم عبيداً لجوجاً قال معتذراً

واللّه قد خلق الأنسان من عجلِ

واللّه قد خلق الأنسان من عجلِ

And have mercy on a humble, insistent servant who said apologetically:

And have mercy on hasty slaves who apologized

And God has indeed created man from haste.

By God, man was created of haste
