  1. مذ لاح فوق جبينكم

    سمة النهى والحكمةِ

    Since there shone upon your brow

    the mark of reason and wisdom,

  2. عرفوك مدحت عصرنا

    ولذا دعوك بمدحةِ

    they recognized you as the Midhat of our age,

    and so they addressed you with praise.
