Veils have been drawn over the sun of guidance.
The veils were lowered over the sun of guidance,
And secrecy has surrounded it at the rise of morning.
And the radiance of dawn enveloped it in mystery.

The eye of truth has been blinded by ignorance,
so observers have turned away from its glances:
So the seers have recoiled from beholding it.

By these endless transformations and traits!

Their disgraces have nearly killed them; even
Had the radiant sun lived among them,
if they live, shame never lifts from them.
Its brilliance would dim to darkness and gloom.

If the luminous sun lived among them,
Had the Pleiades dwelled with them a while,
darkness and obscurity would beset its brilliance.
Their beauty would veil in murk and fog.

Woe to them! What will be their state
disgrace would thereby overspread their beauty.

One day their Lord will come smiling,

With armies of angels filling the skies.
