لشَتاتِ الفضلِ قد جمعا
O Master of Riddles
O master who, in his riddles,
The scattered strands of virtue he has gathered together.
has gathered the scattered parts of excellence,
ماwhat يَخُصُّpertains to الجِسمَthe body صِفهُdescribe it لناfor us
ما يَخُصُّ الجِسمَ صِفهُ لنا
وافتِناand give us an answer ماwhat والدٌa father رَجَعاreturned
وافتِنا ما والدٌ رَجَعا
Describe for us what pertains uniquely to the body;
describe for us what pertains to the body,
and give us your ruling: what does “father” become when reversed?
