أُنظُر إلى حُسن النُفُوسِ ولا تَكُن

مُغرىً بتنميق الجُسومِ وظَريفها

مُغرىً بتنميق الجُسومِ وظَريفها

Look at the beauty of souls, and do not be

Look to the beauty of souls, do not be

beguiled by the adornment of bodies and their graceful forms.

Swayed by the glamor of bodies and their elegance

لا تَمتَهِن حُرّاً لرثَّة ثوبهِ

لا تَمتَهِن حُرّاً لرثَّة ثوبهِ

ان الجواهرَ لا تُعابُ لظَرفِها

ان الجواهرَ لا تُعابُ لظَرفِها

Do not demean a free man for the shabbiness of his robe;

Do not belittle a free man for the coarseness of his clothes

indeed, jewels are not faulted for their casing.

For gems are not valued for their setting
