إِحفَظ وصايا اللَهِ يا ذا المُتَّقي

إِحفَظ وصايا اللَهِ يا ذا المُتَّقي

ودَعِ البَطالةَ وانبُذِ البُطلانا

ودَعِ البَطالةَ وانبُذِ البُطلانا

Keep God's commandments, O God-fearing one.

Keep God's commandments, O you who are devout

And abandon idleness and cast aside falsehood.

Leave idleness and reject vain talk

واستقنِ فَهماً ما حَيِيتَ وحِكمةً

واستقنِ فَهماً ما حَيِيتَ وحِكمةً

فتقيكَ شرَّ الجهل والطِغيانا

فتقيكَ شرَّ الجهل والطِغيانا

And acquire understanding and wisdom as long as you live,

Acquire understanding as long as you live and wisdom

Thus shielding you from the evil of ignorance and tyranny.
