إذا شمت الحَسُود بهِ اكتِئَابٌ

إذا شمت الحَسُود بهِ اكتِئَابٌ

فقُل لا لا أَراكَ اللَهُ ضَيرا

فقُل لا لا أَراكَ اللَهُ ضَيرا

If you see the envious man in sorrow,

If the envious gloat over your depression,

then say: “May God never, never let you suffer harm!

Say no, no, may God not let you see harm.

أصابك من دها المحال شرٌّ

أصابك من دها المحال شرٌّ

ترى أم صبت غيرك نالَ خَيرا

ترى أم صبت غيرك نالَ خَيرا

Has evil befallen you through the schemer’s guile,

The worst of fates has befallen you,

I wonder, or have you found someone else who gained good fortune?”

Do you see that or has another attained good?
