تَفَكَّر بالمآل ودَع طَماعاً
فمالَكَwhy, then, are you هائماًenamored فيin حُبّlove of مالِكyour wealth
فمالَكَ هائماً في حُبّ مالِك
Consider the final outcome, and cease being covetous;
Reflect on the end and abandon greed.
what ails you, wandering lovestruck in love with your wealth?
Why, then, are you lost in love for your wealth?
فمَنfor whoever يَكُis زاهداًdetached فيwith regard to المالِwealth أَمسَىbecomes
فمَن يَكُ زاهداً في المالِ أَمسَى
غنيَّrich النفسthe soul خيرَthe best of المالِwealth مالِكpossessing
غنيَّ النفس خيرَ المالِ مالِك
For whoever renounces wealth becomes
For whoever is detached from wealth becomes
rich in soul—the finest wealth one can possess.
rich in soul, possessing the best of riches.
