كُن ببلواكَ شاكراً غيرَ شاكٍ

كُن ببلواكَ شاكراً غيرَ شاكٍ

كي تَرَى اللَهَ في بِلاكَ مُعينا

كي تَرَى اللَهَ في بِلاكَ مُعينا

Be thankful in your affliction, not complaining,

Be thankful in your affliction without complaining

so that you may see God as a helper in your trial.

So you may see God helping you in your trial

ليسَ بُدٌّ من القِصاص ولكن

ليسَ بُدٌّ من القِصاص ولكن

ان يكُ الآنَ كانَ خيراً مُبينا

ان يكُ الآنَ كانَ خيراً مُبينا

Retribution is unavoidable, but

Revenge may seem necessary but

if it comes now, it is plainly good.

It would be best now clearly to refrain

ان اوجاعَ دهرِنا لا تُوازِي

ان اوجاعَ دهرِنا لا تُوازِي

ذلكَ المجدَ حينَ يظهرُ فينا

ذلكَ المجدَ حينَ يظهرُ فينا

Indeed, the pains of our time do not compare

The pains of our time cannot compare

with that glory when it appears in us.

To that glory when in us He will reign

ان أَيُّوبَ وَهوَ بَرٌّ زكيٌ

ان أَيُّوبَ وَهوَ بَرٌّ زكيٌ

قد بَلاهُ الالهُ حيناً وحينا

قد بَلاهُ الالهُ حيناً وحينا

Indeed, Job, though righteous and pure,

Job though righteous and devout

was tested by God time and again.

Was tested by God time and again

ويسوعَ الحبيبَ وَهوَ الهٌ

ويسوعَ الحبيبَ وَهوَ الهٌ

رَضِيَ الصلبَ والعذابَ المهينا

رَضِيَ الصلبَ والعذابَ المهينا

And beloved Jesus, though he is God,

And Jesus the beloved, though divine

accepted crucifixion and humiliating torment.

Accepted the cross and scorn of men

ولذاكُم بما ابتُلِي وهو ربٌّ

ولذاكُم بما ابتُلِي وهو ربٌّ

يستطيع ان يوازر المبتلينا

يستطيع ان يوازر المبتلينا

And so, because he was afflicted, though he is Lord,

And so with what He suffered as Lord

he can aid those who are afflicted.

He can give strength to the tried and pained
