مولىً عطاياهُ سَمَت فوقَ العَلا

مولىً عطاياهُ سَمَت فوقَ العَلا

وهَمَت فكم بَسَمت ثُغورُ بَواكِ

وهَمَت فكم بَسَمت ثُغورُ بَواكِ

A lord whose gifts soared above the loftiest heights,

My Master, his gifts ascend beyond the heights,

And showered down—how many weepers' lips have smiled!

And his ambitions - how many smiles have lit his cheeks!

هَوَتِ المداركُ عن معارج فَهمِها

هَوَتِ المداركُ عن معارج فَهمِها

وتباعدت عن رُتبةِ الإِدراكِ

وتباعدت عن رُتبةِ الإِدراكِ

Minds fell short of the stairways to understanding them,

Understanding falls short of the steps to his wisdom,

And were far removed from the rank of comprehension.

And trails far behind the ranks of comprehension.

فالدُرُّ والدِرِّيُّ خافا جودهُ

فالدُرُّ والدِرِّيُّ خافا جودهُ

خوفَ البُغاثِ مواقعَ الأَشراكِ

خوفَ البُغاثِ مواقعَ الأَشراكِ

So the pearl and the radiant star feared his generosity,

So pearl and gold tremble in awe of his generosity,

As weak birds fear the places where snares are laid.

Like partridges fearing the snares of the fowler.

اثرا التمُّنَع من ايادي بذلِهِ

اثرا التمُّنَع من ايادي بذلِهِ

فتحصَّنا في البحرِ والأَفلاكِ

فتحصَّنا في البحرِ والأَفلاكِ

They chose to remain beyond the reach of his generous hands,

They feign to escape from the hands that give them away,

So they took refuge in the sea and the celestial spheres.

And take refuge in the sea and the stars.
