أميرُprince المجدِglory عبدُservant اللهِGod أضحىhas become
أميرُ المجدِ عبدُ اللهِ أضحى
نَزيلَdweller التُّربِthe dust عنby حُكمِdecree القَضاءِfate
نَزيلَ التُّربِ عن حُكمِ القَضاءِ
The prince of glory, ʿAbd Allāh, has become
Abd Allah, the prince of glory, has become
a guest beneath the dust, at fate’s decree.
A dweller in the dust by fate’s decree.
قضَىhe died باللهِin God مَسروراًjoyful أميناًfaithful
قضَى باللهِ مَسروراً أميناً
وأبقَىand he left بعدَهُafter him غُصَصَchoking pangs البُكاءِweeping
وأبقَى بعدَهُ غُصَصَ البُكاءِ
By God, he passed away, rejoicing and faithful,
He died, rejoicing in God and faithful,
and left behind him a bough of mourning.
And left behind him the choking pangs of weeping.
ولمَّاand when سارَhe went نحوَtoward العرشِthe Throne فوراًat once
ولمَّا سارَ نحوَ العرشِ فوراً
ونالَand he attained المجدَglory فيin دارِabode البَقاءِeternity
ونالَ المجدَ في دارِ البَقاءِ
And when he journeyed swiftly toward the Throne,
And when he went at once toward the Throne
and attained glory in the everlasting abode,
And attained glory in the abode of eternity,
وَجَدْناwe found مَنطِقَwording التأريخِthe chronogram صِدْقاًtrue
وَجَدْنا مَنطِقَ التأريخِ صِدْقاً
شِهابُmeteor الأرضِthe earth أصبحَhas become فيin السَّماءِheaven
شِهابُ الأرضِ أصبحَ في السَّماءِ
we found his utterance—the chronogram—true:
We found the chronogram’s wording true:
Earth’s blazing star has come to be in heaven.
Earth’s meteor is now in heaven.
