فيin اللَّحدِthe grave شَرْشَلَChurchill بيكُBey باتَlay at rest ونفسُهُwhile his soul
في اللَّحدِ شَرْشَلَ بيكُ باتَ ونفسُهُ
عندَbefore الإلهِGod تقومُstands فيin تسبيحهِpraise of Him
عندَ الإلهِ تقومُ في تسبيحهِ
In the grave Churchill Bey has come to rest, while his soul
Stands before God, glorifying Him.
نَسْلُscion الوِزارةِministerial office صاحبُpossessor of الشَّرَفِhonor الذيwhose
نَسْلُ الوِزارةِ صاحبُ الشَّرَفِ الذي
قدindeed لاحَshone forth كالصُّبحِlike the dawn اشتهارُrenown وُضُوحِهِits clarity
قد لاحَ كالصُّبحِ اشتهارُ وُضُوحِهِ
A scion of ministers, possessor of honor whose
Celebrated brilliance has shone forth like the dawn.
أحياrevived لِمَاfor Mā- (part of Marlborough) لَبْرُوكَlabrūk (completing Marlborough) ذِكراًrenown طالَماfor so long
أحيا لِمَا لَبْرُوكَ ذِكراً طالَما
أنشاهُhe established it بينamid حروبِهِhis wars وفُتوحِهِand his conquests
أنشاهُ بين حروبِهِ وفُتوحِهِ
He revived Marlborough’s renown, which he had long
Established amid his wars and conquests.
قدindeed حلَّsettled فيon ثانيthe second of شُباطَFebruary بمضجَعٍin a resting place
قد حلَّ في ثاني شُباطَ بمضجَعٍ
رَوَّىwatered الغَمامُthe clouds تُرابَهُits earth بسُفُوحِهِwith their downpour
رَوَّى الغَمامُ تُرابَهُ بسُفُوحِهِ
On February the second he settled in a resting place
Whose earth the clouds watered with their downpour.
ولَوائحٌand gleams مِنof رَحمةِthe mercy of اللهِGod انجَلَتْbecame manifest
ولَوائحٌ مِن رَحمةِ اللهِ انجَلَتْ
لمُؤَرِّخيهِto his chroniclers تُنيرُshine فوقَabove ضريحِهِhis tomb
لمُؤَرِّخيهِ تُنيرُ فوقَ ضريحِهِ
And gleams of God’s mercy were revealed
To his chroniclers, shining above his tomb.
