إنif زُرْتَyou visit قبرَthe grave of ابنِthe son of نَحَّاسٍNahhas لصَبوتهِbecause of his youth
إن زُرْتَ قبرَ ابنِ نَحَّاسٍ لصَبوتهِ
فاطلُبْthen seek لقلبِfor the heart of أبيهِhis father صبرَthe patience of أيُّوبِJob
فاطلُبْ لقلبِ أبيهِ صبرَ أيُّوبِ
If you visit the grave of Ibn Naḥḥās to keep him company,
If, moved by his youth, you visit the grave of Nahhas's son,
then seek for his father’s heart the patience of Job.

وقِفْand pause بتاريخهِover his chronogram فيin دارهِhis dwelling سحَرَاًbefore dawn
وقِفْ بتاريخهِ في دارهِ سحَرَاً
وقُلْand say ليوسفَto Joseph هذاthis حُزنُthe grief of يَعقوبِJacob
وقُلْ ليوسفَ هذا حُزنُ يَعقوبِ
And at dawn, pause over his chronogram in his abode,
And pause over his chronogram in his dwelling before dawn,
and say to Joseph: “This is Jacob’s grief.”
And say to Joseph: "This is Jacob's grief."
