Speech is not true until action bears witness.

    إنَّ الثِّمارَ منَ الأغصانِ تُبتَذلُ

    A branch of the roots that have passed, and their splendor;

Indeed, fruits from the boughs are freely offered.

Until she came, and shame struck the claimant.

If the sun's light shines clear for you in a celestial sphere,

What light, then, do Gemini and Aries scatter?

A remnant of the monarchs of time, kept in reserve,

And the best of things is what is hidden and set apart.

As kohl and natural dark rims meet upon the eyelids.

India's gleaming swords and spears shatter before it.

Rising; on land, from its fluttering, comes a clamor.

A crown, so ornaments and robes seem slight to her.

Among noble women, so that it cannot be appropriated.

In it are kings; yet not a drop has touched her.

Like the sun among full moons, untouched

By the moons' waning, nor stolen away by twilight.

Serene of eye, she tends her kingdom, keeping vigil

Over her subjects, so the eyes around her sleep.

Drawing near, even if in its remoteness it is Saturn.

Messengers of her renown had already summoned me before you.
