لا تَجزَعوا يا بني النَّجارِ واصطبرِوا

لفَقْدِ حيٍّ قَفا آثارَ سابقِهِ

لفَقْدِ حيٍّ قَفا آثارَ سابقِهِ

Do not despair, O sons of al-Najjar, and be steadfast

Do not despair, O sons of the carpenter, but be patient

At the loss of a living man who followed in his predecessor's footsteps.

For the loss of one alive who followed in the steps of his predecessors.

يقولُ إذ بشَّرَ التأريخُ فاقِدَهُ

يقولُ إذ بشَّرَ التأريخُ فاقِدَهُ

إِلياسُ في العرشِ حيٌّ عِندَ خالقِهِ

إِلياسُ في العرشِ حيٌّ عِندَ خالقِهِ

The chronogram says, bringing glad tidings to the one who lost him:

When history gave glad tidings of his loss,

Elias is alive at the Throne, in his Creator's presence.

Elias said: He lives in the Throne, alive with his Creator.
