فَلَوso if كانواthey were اِذwhen بانواthey departed يَئِستyou despaired فَلَمand did not يَكُنexist
فَلَو كانوا اِذ بانوا يَئِست فَلَم يَكُن
لَهُمfor them اِذwhen هُمُthey شَخطfar away عَلَيكَfor you رَجاءُhope
لَهُم اِذ هُمُ شَخط عَلَيكَ رَجاءُ
Had you despaired when they departed, and had there been
Had they when they despaired not hoped again,
no hope of them for you when they were far away,
Then when in wrath against you they were bent,
إذاًthen لِشفاكwould have healed you اليَأسdespair منof كلفpassion بِهِمfor them
إذاً لِشفاك اليَأس من كلف بِهِم
وَفيand in اليَأسdespair مِمّاof what لاnot يُنالُis attained شِفاءُhealing
وَفي اليَأس مِمّا لا يُنالُ شِفاءُ
then despair would have healed you of your passion for them;
To intercede for them had been in vain,
and in despair of what cannot be attained there is healing.
And hope of mercy that shall not relent.
