اقرت لِنَجواهُم لُؤيُّ بنُ غالِب
Among the fair men who, when they confer in private,
From the noble white people whose eloquence
Lu’ayy son of Ghalib assents to their counsel.
I acknowledged to be that of Lu'ayy son of Ghalib,

They greet with smiles at times, and at others,
At times they greet with drawn swords,
Abbasid men greet with fierce brows.
At others they greet as Abbasids with frowning eyebrows.
