عَفا بَعد سُعدى ذو مُراح فَاِقتُد

عَفا بَعد سُعدى ذو مُراح فَاِقتُد

فَسَفح اللوى من ذي طُلاح فَمنشِدُ

فَسَفح اللوى من ذي طُلاح فَمنشِدُ

After Suʿdā, Dhū Murāḥ and Iqtud lie desolate,

The one of happy fortunes passed away after my bliss

And the slope of al-Liwā, from Dhū Ṭulāḥ, and Manshid.

So let the flowing tears of the bereft be my minstrel
