طَلَعواthey advanced عَلَيكَupon you بِرايَةٍwith a banner مَعروفَةٍwell-known
طَلَعوا عَلَيكَ بِرايَةٍ مَعروفَةٍ
يَومَon the day of الأَبَيَّسِal-Abayyas إِذwhen لَقَيتَyou met لَئيماignoble
يَومَ الأَبَيَّسِ إِذ لَقَيتَ لَئيما
They advanced upon you with a well-known banner,
on the day of al-Abayyas, when you faced them ignobly.
قَومٌa people تَدارَكَovertook بِالعَقيرَةِat al-Aqirah رَكضُهُمtheir charge
قَومٌ تَدارَكَ بِالعَقيرَةِ رَكضُهُم
أَولادَthe sons of زَردَةَZardah إِذwhen تُرِكتَyou were left ذَميماdisgraced
أَولادَ زَردَةَ إِذ تُرِكتَ ذَميما
A people whose charge at al-Aqirah overtook
the sons of Zardah, when you were left disgraced.
