تَخِفُّ الأَرضُ إِن تَفقِدكَ يَوماً

تَخِفُّ الأَرضُ إِن تَفقِدكَ يَوماً

وَتَبقى ما بَقيتَ بِها ثَقيلا

وَتَبقى ما بَقيتَ بِها ثَقيلا

The earth grows lighter if it loses you one day;

The land will grieve if it loses you one day

And you remain weighty as long as you remain upon it.

And remains as heavy as you remained in it

لِأَنَّكَ مَوضِعُ القُسطاسِ مِنها

لِأَنَّكَ مَوضِعُ القُسطاسِ مِنها

فَتَمنَعُ جانِبَيها أَن تَميلا

فَتَمنَعُ جانِبَيها أَن تَميلا

For you are the fulcrum of its balance,

Because you are the plumb line from it

And so you keep its two sides from tilting.

So you prevent its sides from tilting
