Sleep; leave the piercing groan behind,

And return to calm; do not blaze.

Enough for you is this painful torment,

And enough, my heart, of worry and grief.

Make life your foe and consort with death,

And sleep on the fringes of death and nothingness.

For I, my heart, am not one who loves life,

Nor, my heart, am I one who can endure pain.

At having been cast onto the shore of injustice.
