Sol 6.1

  1. ربي الهَ العالمِ العجيبِ

    وفالق الاصباح والغروب

    My Lord, God of the wondrous world,

    And cleaver of daybreak and sunset,

  2. وغافر الاثامِ والذنوب

    وماحي الكروب في الخطوب

    And forgiver of transgressions and sins,

    And effacer of sorrows amid calamities,

  3. وباعثَ الامالِ في القلوبِ

    سريعةَ الخطوبِ والوجيب

    And awakener of hopes within hearts,

    Swift in turmoil and in throbbing,

  4. ومذهبَ الالام واللغوبِ

    وكاشفَ الغمةِ والتعذيبِ

    And dispeller of pains and weariness,

    And remover of gloom and torment,

  5. وعالمَ الاسرار والغيوب

    وناظر النملة في الدبيب

    And knower of secrets and unseen things,

    And watcher of the ant as it crawls,

  6. تسير حيرى في الدجى الرهيب

    وفي فجاج العالم الرحيب

    Walking bewildered through the dreadful darkness,

    And through the pathways of the spacious world,

  7. ومحصيَ الذرة في الكثيب

    ونسمة في الغصن الرطيب

    And counter of each speck within the dune,

    And a breeze within the tender bough,

  8. ونفحةً فاغية الطيوب

    ونفس مستعر اللهيب

    And a waft diffusing sweet perfumes,

    And a breath ablaze with flame,

  9. وانةً من مدنف كئيب

    وعبرةً من مدمع صبيب

    And a moan from a sorrowful invalid,

    And a tear from a streaming eye,

  10. مغرورقٍ في دمعه سكوب

    دام وما ينفك في نحيب

    Brimming with its tears, pouring freely,

    Bleeding, never ceasing its wailing,

  11. ونفثةُ الاديب للأديب

    وزفرةُ الحبيب للحبيب

    And a writer's outpouring to another writer,

    And a lover's sigh to the beloved,

  12. ومدركُ البعيد والقريب

    وواصل الشمال بالجنوب

    And perceiver of the distant and the near,

    And joiner of the north to the south:

  13. رحماك يا اللَه واغفر حوبي

    تعددت يا خالقي ذنوبي

    Your mercy, O God—and forgive my sin.

    My sins have multiplied, O my Creator,

  14. وكثرت في ذي الدنى عيوبي

    واختلط المألوف بالغريب

    And my faults have grown many in these worlds;

    The familiar has mingled with the strange,

  15. واشتبك الصحيح بالمقلوب

    والتبس المرهوب بالمرغوب

    And the correct has become entangled with the inverted,

    And the feared has become confused with the desired.

  16. وخضت في الاثام في ضروب

    ومشكلات جمة الدروب

    And I have waded through sins of many kinds,

    And perplexities with myriad paths;

  17. شهيدُها ما كان بالأريب

    ولا الحصيف العاقل اللبيب

    Their witness was not discerning,

    Nor prudent, rational, or wise,

  18. ولا النقي الطاهر المجيب

    نصيحة الصديق والحبيب

    Nor pure, unsullied, or receptive

    To the counsel of friend and beloved.

  19. وهمات الوحي في الغروب

    وفي الشروق عذبة الترغيب

    And the stirrings of inspiration at sunset,

    And at sunrise, sweetly inviting,

  20. تلمس بالاذان والقلوب

    وبالشعور المرهف المشبوب

    Are felt by ears and hearts,

    And by feeling, keen and kindled,

  21. كوقدة النيران والشؤبوب

    وكاندفاع العارض المسكوب

    Like the blaze of fires and the downpour,

    And like the rush of an outpouring raincloud.

  22. يا رب رفقا بفتى غريب

    في هذه الدنيا عم كئيب

    O Lord, be gentle with a young stranger,

    In this world, blind and sorrowful,

  23. غرقان في النشيج والنحيب

    مقطع الاوصال والجيوب

    Drowned in sobbing and wailing,

    His limbs and shirtfronts torn apart.

  24. يغيب بين السقم والشحوب

    كما يغيب البدر في المغيب

    He fades between sickness and pallor,

    As the full moon vanishes at its setting,

  25. والذكر العذاب في القلوب

    والنار في رمادها المذيب

    And sweet memories within hearts,

    And fire within its dissolving ash,

  26. والنور في جوف الدجى الغريب

    الصامت الواني الخطى المهيب

    And light within the depths of strange darkness,

    Silent, slow of step, awe-inspiring;

  27. وكالحزين الثاكل المسلوب

    آماله في امسه القريب

    And like the grieving, bereaved man, robbed

    Of his hopes in his recent yesterday;

  28. وباني القصر على الكثيب

    المنزوي والمقفر الجديب

    And like the builder of a palace on a dune,

    Secluded and desolate, barren;

  29. وكالظميء الناغب المنكوب

    بالآل في الجيئة والذهوب

    And like the thirsty man who sips, afflicted

    By the mirage in his coming and going;

  30. وكالغريق الواله المشجوب

    منادياً وليس من مجيب

    And like the drowning man, distraught and grief-stricken,

    Calling, with no one to answer,

  31. الآك يا ربي وكالمصلوب

    تلطمه الرياح في الجنوب

    Except You, my Lord—and like a crucified man,

    Whom winds buffet in the south,

  32. جئته تذوب في الخطوب

    وروحه في الحدث العصيب

    His body melts amid calamities,

    And his soul amid the grievous ordeal.

  33. يا رب واسمع انة المكروب

    في هدأة الليل على عسيب

    O Lord, hear the groan of the distressed,

    In the stillness of night upon a palm stalk,

  34. النادم التائب عن ذنوب

    ناء بها الكلكل والمنيب

    Remorseful, repenting of sins

    That have bowed his breast, and turning back

  35. انابة الشباب والمشيب

    في غده البعيد والقريب

    With the repentance of youth and gray-haired age,

    In his tomorrow, distant and near.

  36. يا رب انت عالم الغيوب

    وخابر الاسرار والقلوب

    O Lord, You are the knower of unseen things,

    And the discerner of secrets and hearts,

  37. وانت خير سامع مجيب

    And You are the best to hear and answer.
