يُؤَمِّمُ ذا السَيفُ آمالَهُ

يُؤَمِّمُ ذا السَيفُ آمالَهُ

وَلا يَفعَلُ السَيفُ أَفعالَهُ

وَلا يَفعَلُ السَيفُ أَفعالَهُ

This sword pursues his hopes;

He who wields the sword fulfills his hopes

This Sword directs his purpose toward his hopes,

yet no sword performs his deeds.

The sword does not act on its own

Achieving what the steel blade cannot achieve.

إِذا سارَ في مَهمَهٍ عَمَّهُ

إِذا سارَ في مَهمَهٍ عَمَّهُ

وَإِن سارَ في جَبَلٍ طالَهُ

وَإِن سارَ في جَبَلٍ طالَهُ

When he travels through a trackless wilderness, he fills it;

If it marches on an important task, it is guided

If he traverses a wasteland, he pervades it,

and if he travels through a mountain, he towers above it.

And if it marches on a mountain, it is long enough

And if he scales a mountain, he towers over it.

وَأَنتَ بِما نُلتَنا مالِكٌ

وَأَنتَ بِما نُلتَنا مالِكٌ

يُثَمِّرُ مِن مالِهِ مالَهُ

يُثَمِّرُ مِن مالِهِ مالَهُ

And you, through what you have given us, are a master

And you, with what you have given us, are in control

You are a master who owns us by your bounty,

who makes his wealth grow from his own wealth.

Your wealth yields more wealth

Who causes his wealth to bear fruit through his wealth.

كَأَنَّكَ ما بَينَنا ضَيغَمٌ

كَأَنَّكَ ما بَينَنا ضَيغَمٌ

يُرَشِّحُ لِلفَرسِ أَشبالَهُ

يُرَشِّحُ لِلفَرسِ أَشبالَهُ

You are like a lion in our midst,

It is as if you are not between us, a leopard

It is as if you stand among us like a lion,

training his cubs to hunt.

Who raises for the horse its cubs

Training his cubs to seize and break their prey.
