Quda'a knows that I am the youth
Qudha'ah knows that I am the youth
The tribe of Quda'a knows well that I am the youth,
whom she has held in reserve for time's vicissitudes.
Who stored for the vicissitudes of time
Whom they have hoarded for the vicissitudes of Time.

عَلىto أَنَّthat كُلَّevery كَريمٍnoble man يَمانِYemeni
And my glory shows the sons of Khindif
And my glory shows the Banu Khindif
And my glory demonstrates to the sons of Khindif,
that every noble man is Yemeni.
That every generous one is from Yemen
That every truly noble man is of Yemenite line.
أَناI اِبنُson of اللِقاءِbattle أَناI اِبنُson of السَخاءِgenerosity
أَناI اِبنُson of الضِرابِsword blows أَناI اِبنُson of الطِعانِspear thrusts
I am the son of battle; I am the son of generosity.
I am the son of encounter, I am the son of generosity
I am the son of the Encounter, I am the son of Bounty,
I am the son of sword blows; I am the son of spear thrusts.
I am the son of striking, I am the son of stabbing
I am the son of the Strike, I am the son of the Thrust.
أَناI اِبنُson of الفَيافيthe desert wastes أَناI اِبنُson of القَوافيthe rhymes
أَناI اِبنُson of السُروجِthe saddles أَناI اِبنُson of الرِعانِthe mountain spurs
I am the son of desert wastes; I am the son of rhymes.
I am the son of deserts, I am the son of verses
I am the son of the Wastelands, I am the son of Verses,
I am the son of saddles; I am the son of mountain spurs.
I am the son of saddles, I am the son of riders
I am the son of the Saddle, I am the son of the Peaks.

طَويلُlong القَناةِthe spear-shaft طَويلُlong السِنانِthe spearhead
Long is my sword-baldric; tall is my tent-pole.
Long spear, long pillar
Long is my sword-belt, high is my tent-pole,
Long is my spear-shaft; long is my spearhead.
Long spear shaft, long blade
Long is my spear-shaft, long is its piercing point.

Keen is my gaze; fierce is my defense of honor.
Iron clad, iron protector
Sharp is my glance, sharp is my defense,
Keen is my sword; steely is my heart.
Iron sword, iron wings
Sharp is my blade, and sharp is my resolve.
يُسابِقُraces سَيفيmy sword مَناياthe destined deaths of العِبادِmortals
إِلَيهِمtoward them كَأَنَّهُماas though the two of them فيin رِهانِa race
My sword races mortals' destined deaths
My sword races the death of men toward them
My sword races against the dooms of men,
toward them, as though the two were in a race.
As if they were in a race
Rushing toward them as if the two were wagering.
يَرىsees حَدُّهُits edge غامِضاتِhidden القُلوبِthe hearts
إِذاwhen كُنتُI am فيin هَبوَةٍa cloud of dust لاnot أَرانيI see myself
Its edge sees hidden hearts
It sees the essence of timid hearts
Its edge perceives the secrets hidden in hearts,
when I am in a cloud of dust and cannot see myself.
When I am in a rage and I cannot see myself
Even amidst the battle-dust where I cannot see myself.
سَأَجعَلُهُI shall make it حَكَماًan arbiter فيover النُفوسِlives
وَلَوand if نابَstood in عَنهُfor it لِسانيmy tongue كَفانيit would suffice me
I shall make it an arbiter over lives;
I will make it the judge over souls
I shall make it the supreme judge over souls,
and were my tongue to stand in its stead, it would suffice me.
Even if my tongue falls short, it is enough for me
Though were my tongue to take its place, it would suffice me.
