مُحِبّيO lovers of قِياميmy rising ماwhat لِذَلِكُمُwith that (addressing you all) النَصلِthe blade
مُحِبّي قِيامي ما لِذَلِكُمُ النَصلِ
بَريئاًguiltless مِنَof الجَرحىthe wounded سَليماًunscathed مِنَby القَتلِkilling
بَريئاً مِنَ الجَرحى سَليماً مِنَ القَتلِ
O lovers of my rising, why is that blade
My rising lovers, why do you attack me
O you who desire my rise, what ails this blade of mine, / That it remains innocent of wounds, safe from the act of killing?
Guiltless of wounding anyone, untainted by killing?
Innocent of wounding, safe from killing
I see a fragment of my own luster reflected in its sheen, / For the mastery of cleaving skulls lies in the mastery of the polish.
أَرىI see مِنof فِرِنديmy mettle قِطعَةًa piece فيin فِرِندِهِits steel-pattern

وَجَودَةُ ضَربِ الهامِ في جَودَةِ الصَقلِ
I see a piece of my mettle in its patterned steel;
I see in my friend a piece in his friend
The verdant robe of life is won through that dark, iron hue, / Which revealed to you the crimson of death within its ant-track ripples.
And excellence in striking heads lies in excellence of polish.
And excellence of resolve in the excellence of polish
Cast aside your comparisons of me, your "somewhat" and "as if," / For there is no one above me, and no one is my equal.
وَخُضرَةُand the greenness ثَوبِthe robe العَيشِof life فيin الخُضرَةِthe greenness الَّتيthat

أَرَتكَ اِحمِرارَ المَوتِ في مَدرَجِ النَملِ
And the green of life's robe lies in the green that
And greenness of life's garb in the greenness that
Leave me alone with it, my noble steed, and my slender spear— / We become a single force to face the world, so witness what I do.
Showed you death's redness in the ants' trail.
Showed you the redness of death in the valley of ants

Put aside likening me to anything, and saying 'as though he were'—
Remove from me your comparison with what resembles
For no one is above me, and no one is like me.
For no one is above me and no one is like me

And leave me with it, my noble steed, and my slender spear;
And leave me and him and my glance and my fading
We shall be one facing mankind—and watch what I do.
We will be one who encounters creation and see my actions
