Ah, how lovely a little eye it is!
Oh how graceful when she sways
Oh, how exquisite is that eye,
And were it not for its beauty, I would not marvel.
Were it not for mischief, I'd not admire
Were it not for its charm, I would not marvel.

Saffron-hued; within its saffron hue
So very dainty in her daintiness
Saffron-hued within its amber essence,
Is a tiny black spot, like a nightshade berry.
Dark-skinned as a fox's grapes
Dark at the core like the nightshade berry.

When the hawk looks toward his flank,
When the falcon glances at her shoulder
When the hawk turns to gaze upon his wing,
The eye clothes him in a ray of light upon his shoulder.
His plumage casts a gleam upon her arm
It clothes his shoulder in a ray of light.
