The critics praised it

و هم من سكبوا جام بنادقهم

فوق قصائده قبل اليوم،

yet they were the ones who poured out the cup of their rifles

over his poems before today.

لقد مات و في دمه حنق مر

Indeed, he died with bitter rancor in his blood

which not even all their elegies can erase.
