وتفننوا في كنهه وصفاته

They said he has a mole on the surface of his cheek,

And elaborated in many ways on its nature and qualities.

And were meticulous in describing it and its qualities,

وأراه عبداً جاء يسرق من جنى

خدّيه مغترّاً بفعل سناته

And I see it as a slave who came to steal some of the fruit

And showed him a slave who came to steal

Of his cheeks, fooled by the effect of his drowsy spells.

The produce of his cheeks, fooled by their beauty,

فرماه ناظره بسهم صائب

فرماه ناظره بسهم صائب

وانظر إلى دمه على وجناته

وانظر إلى دمه على وجناته

So his eye shot him with an arrow that struck true;

So his guardian struck him with a true arrow,

And look at his blood upon his cheeks.
