Is it a herald of good fortune, or the mouth of congratulations,

that has appeared, smiling to reveal the pearls of hopes?

It appeared, calling Tripoli to glory

and pride beyond the reach of both hands.

So it enraptured us with wine of joy,

passed round among hearts without vessels,

through training in arms—and what glory

can match training in marksmanship and spear-thrusting?

    وهل تجنى الثمار بلا أوان

    And it lay far beyond the reach of those who sought it;

can fruits be gathered before their season?

And when a caller summons you to greatness,

do not settle for a coward's station.

Tell me, does any soul reject greatness,

and would a free man's soul consent to humiliation?

And whoever finds more lofty honors—

is it fitting for him to say then, "That is enough for me"?

while our resolve is beyond description?

    training in marksmanship and spear-thrusting.

And how much we owe you, O king hailed with congratulations,

for favors bestowed upon us at every moment!

Favors that no gratitude can repay,

and gratitude my tongue cannot fully express.

And can eloquence find any path

to the essence of your fine qualities?

Your eminence rose above the ranks of greatness,

so the verses of meaning fell prostrate.

So may your slaves ever remain in happiness,

and may your lands ever remain in safety.
