Joy hovered over my heart, and I cannot comprehend.

And can any place be pleasant when you are not there with me?

By God, O lightning’s gleam, to her you are

My messenger; so tell what you will of my passion.

O neighbors of the bān trees, the cup has indeed raged

Through the head with fury; how can one worn out by the cup comprehend?

Fire, thunder, and water—all have mingled

In the breast, the soul, and both eyes, from [unclear word].

O women who heal, we have a longing that

Our breasts cannot contain; so do not fear baldness.
