وَسُقياً لِعَصرِ العامِريَّةِ مِن عَصرِ
May God water those days of ours that will not return,
God granted us days that will never return
And rain bless the time of al-ʿĀmiriyyah—what a time it was!
And a drink for the flourishing era instead of the barren one
لَياليnights أَجرَرتُI yielded البَطالَةَidleness مِقوَديmy rein

تَمُرُّ اللَيالي وَالشُهورُ وَلا أَدري
Nights when I yielded my rein to idleness,
Nights I dragged idleness by the reins

Nights and months pass and I know not
