خالَفْتُI differed from قَوْمِيَmy people فِيin دِينِهُمْtheir religion
خالَفْتُ قَوْمِيَ فِي دِينِهُمْ
خِلافَthe opposition of صَباthe east wind الرِّيحِthe wind جاءَتْit came جَنُوباas a south wind
خِلافَ صَبا الرِّيحِ جاءَتْ جَنُوبا
I differed from my people in their religion,
As the east wind differs from a wind coming from the south.
أُرَجِّيI place my hope in الْإِلَهَGod وَغُفْرانَهُand His forgiveness
أُرَجِّي الْإِلَهَ وَغُفْرانَهُ
وَيَرْجُونَand they hope for دِرهَمُهُمْtheir dirham وَالْجَرِيباand the jarīb (a measure of land or grain)
وَيَرْجُونَ دِرهَمُهُمْ وَالْجَرِيبا
I place my hope in God and His forgiveness,
And they hope for their dirham and the jarīb.
