1. تارك الآفل من قبل الخليل

    هو للرسل على النهج دليل

    Al-Khalil long ago forsook what sets.

    He is a guide for the messengers upon the path.

  2. إنه لله فينا آية

    ربيت في قلبه ذي الملة

    Indeed, he is a sign of God among us.

    This faith was nurtured in his heart.

  3. طهرا بيتي إليه أنزلا

    بعد سيل من دموع سيلا

    “Purify My House” was sent down to him,

    After a torrent of tears he had poured forth.

  4. قفرة من أجلنا قد عمرا

    وبنى البيت الذي قد طهرا

    He made a barren wilderness flourish for our sake,

    And built the House that he had purified.

  5. تب علينا نضرت زهرتها

    فنمت في أرضنا روضتها

    “Turn to us in mercy”—its flower grew fresh,

    And its garden grew in our land.

  6. صور الرحمن منا هيكلا

    وحباه الروح مما أنزلا

    The All-Merciful fashioned a body from us,

    And endowed it with the spirit from what He sent down.

  7. أحرفا كنا ولسنا كلما

    فتألفنا كبيت نظما

    We were letters, not words,

    Then we came together like a composed line of verse.

  8. بالرسالات بدا تكويننا

    شرعنا منها ومنها ديننا

    Through the divine messages our formation emerged;

    Our law comes from them, and from them our religion.

  9. ذاك من يهدي إليه من يريد

    حلقة منها حوالينا يشيد

    That is He who guides to Himself whomever He wills;

    From them He builds a circle around us:

  10. حلقة ذات محيط يعجز

    ساحة البطحاء فيها مركز

    A circle whose circumference leaves one powerless,

    With the expanse of al-Batha at its center.

  11. نحن مما جمعتنا أمة

    أرسلت للناس فيها الرحمة

    We are a community because it has gathered us;

    Within it, mercy was sent to humankind.

  12. موجنا في بحرها متصل

    موجة من موجة لا تفصل

    Our waves are linked in its sea;

    No wave is separated from another.

  13. أمة في حرز سور الحرم

    في حفاظ مثل أسد الأجم

    A community sheltered by the Sanctuary's wall,

    On guard like lions of the thickets.

  14. إن تحقق ممعنا في كلمى

    نظرة الصديق رب الفهم

    If, looking deeply into my words, you examine

    The vision of al-Siddiq, master of understanding,

  15. فالنبي الروح فينا والعصب

    وإلى القلب من الرب أحب

    Then the Prophet is the spirit and sinews within us,

    And dearer to the heart than the Lord.

  16. سفره في القلب نبع القوة

    شرعه حبل وريد الأمة

    His scripture is the wellspring of strength in the heart;

    His law is the community's jugular vein.

  17. قطع حبل منه للموت رديف

    كذبول الورد في ريح الخريف

    Severing a strand of it is death's companion,

    Like the rose's withering in the autumn wind.

  18. حيت الأمة من ترياقه

    صبحها نور من إشراقه

    The community came alive through his antidote;

    Its dawn is light from his radiance.

  19. وحد المرسل فينا النغما

    والطوايا والمنى والألما

    The Messenger brought our melodies into unison,

    And our innermost thoughts, our hopes, and our pain.

  20. كثرة الألاف عين الوحدة

    ومن الوحدة نشء الأمة

    The multitude of thousands is unity itself,

    And from unity the community is born.

  21. وحدة القصد حياة الكثرة

    مقصد المسلم دين الفطرة

    Unity of purpose is the life of the multitude;

    The Muslim's aim is the religion of innate nature.

  22. علم الفطرة خير الرسل

    فمضينا للهدى كالشعل

    The best of messengers taught that innate nature,

    So we advanced toward guidance like flames.

  23. بحره أخرج هذا الجوهرا

    نحن روح واحد منه سرى

    His sea brought forth this pearl;

    We are a single spirit that flowed from him.

  24. هذه الوحدة ما لم تفقد

    تحفظ المسلم حتى الأبد

    As long as this unity is not lost,

    It will preserve the Muslim for all eternity.

  25. ختم الله علينا شرعته

    وعلى المرسل فينا بعثته

    God set the seal on His law for us,

    And on His mission in the Messenger among us.

  26. محفل الأيام منا يبسم

    ختم الرسل بنا والأمم

    The assembly of days smiles because of us;

    With us He brought the succession of messengers and communities to a close.

  27. خدمة الساقي إلينا صرفا

    جامه الآخر فينا خلفا

    He directed the cupbearer's service toward us;

    His last goblet He left among us.

  28. لا نبي بعد فضل عرفا

    إنه حزمة دين المصطفى

    “No prophet afterward” is a recognized blessing;

    Indeed, it is the binding bundle of al-Mustafa's religion.

  29. إنه قوة هذي الملة

    إنه سر اتحاد الأمة

    Indeed, it is the strength of this faith;

    Indeed, it is the secret of the community's unity.

  30. كل دعوى بعدها للأفن

    أحكم الإسلام طول الزمن

    Every claim after it is folly;

    It secured Islam for all time.

  31. ما سوى الحق قلاه المسلم

    قائلا لا قوم بعدي فاعلموا

    The Muslim spurned all but the Truth,

    Saying, “No nation comes after me—so know this.”
